HOLLYWOOD, FL (May 13, 2026) |  SUN Credit Union hosted its “SUN Fuels the Community” gas giveaway event in Hollywood, providing free gas to 50 local drivers during a morning focused on community support and financial relief.

Held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Marathon gas station on Hollywood Boulevard, the event drew an overwhelming response from the community, with the first vehicle arriving in line as early as 5:30 a.m. CBS Miami was onsite covering the event as SUN Credit Union staff filled tanks and connected with residents throughout the morning.

The credit union provided up to $50 in free gas per vehicle, helping local families offset everyday expenses at a time when gas prices and overall living costs remain high.

One attendee, who was first in line, shared that he was happy to wait the two hours because the savings would allow him to put the money toward paying his utility bill instead. He described the experience as “worth it” and said he would gladly do it again.

“We are incredibly grateful for the positive response from the community,” said Lorena Cooke, Director of Marketing & Business Development. “Many families are still facing financial hardships, and we wanted to provide meaningful relief in a simple but impactful way. Seeing so many smiling faces drive away with full tanks reminded us why community matters.”

SUN Credit Union also extended its appreciation to the Hollywood Police Department for their presence and assistance during the event, helping ensure everything ran smoothly and safely.
